Spicy Baked Steak

 


 Another recipe from Beef Casseroles, this is the last recipe on page 20


                  Spicy Baked Steak

Submitted by Dorothy E. Brevoort , Former New Jersey Home Economics Supervisor


 1/4 cup flour

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

3 Tablespoon shortneing

2 pounds round steak, 1/2 inch thick

1 cup catsup

1/2 cup water

1 medium onion, sliced

1 lemon, thinly sliced

1 green pepper, sliced

 5 whole cloves


 Combine flour, salt, pepper; pound into steak. Melt shortening in skillet and brown steak. Place steak in baking dish. Blend catsup with water; pour over steak. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and bake 1 hour at 350 F. degrees on lower oven shelf

Yield: 6 servings
