WEEKEND CASSEROLE

1 pound beef chuck or stewing beef, cut in cubes
1/2 cup Burgundy or other red dinner wine
1 can condensed consomme
3/4 teaspoon salr
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 medium onion, sliced
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup fine dry bread crumbs
Combine beef, wine, consomme, salt, pepper and onion in casserole. Mix flour with bread crumbs; stir into casserole mixture. Cover; bake at 300 F. degrees for 3 hours or until beef is tender. Serve over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes.
YIELD: 4 servings.
