Baked Macaroni and Cheese
1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni 2 quarts boiling water
2 teaspoon salt 1 cup cheese, grated
1/2 cup buttered crumbs
Measure water and salt into 6 quart saucepan. Set top burner at about 400 degrees. When water is boiling , add macaroni, slowly , that water doesn't stop boiling, Cook, uncovered, 15 to 20 minutes. Drain in colander.
Cream Sauce:
2 Tablespoon butter 2 Tablespoon flour
1 1/2 cup milk
Set top burner to about 220 degrees. Melt but butter; stir in flour and salt. Add milk slowly. Cook until thick.
Buttered Crumbs:
2 Tablespoon butter 1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/8 teaspoon salt
Set top burner at about 220 degrees. Melt butter, stir in crumbs and salt. Brown slightly.
Put one half the cooked macaroni in a greased 2 quart casserole, then half the sauce. Sprinkle with half the cheese. Repeat with macaroni, sauce and cheese .Top with buttered crumbs. Bake at 375 degrees 15 to 20 minutes.
