PORK CHOP SCALLOP

6 pork chops

5 Tablespoon butter

4 medium potatoes

1 small onion, chopped

2 Tablespoon flour

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

2 cup milk

1 teaspoon soy sauce ( Optional)

1/2 cup sliced water chestnuts

  Cook chops in 3 Tablespoons butter for 15 minutes; drain. Pare and slice potatoes; cook 5 minutes and drain. Cook onion in remaining butter until tender. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Gradually stir in milk and soy sauce; cook until smooth and thickened, stirring constantly. Alternate layers of potatoes and water chestnuts in a buttered 2-quart casserole. Pour white sauce over all. Place pork chops on top. Cover and bake at 350 F. degrees for 25-30 minutes.
