Simple Pie Crust

This is a simple pie crust and easy to make, At least for me...This recipe is from a dessert cookbook I had gotten years ago, Don't the name of the cookbook.

What will you need for this recipe:

A pie plate ( something to put the crust into)

  2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup shortening

6-7 Tablespoon cold water

Sift together the flour and salt. Divide the shortening in half; cut 1/3 cup shortening into the flour using a pastry blender or using 2 forks till mixture resembles cornmeal. Cut in remaining shortening till pieces are the size of peas.

Sprinkle 1 Tablespoon at a time over the mixture until about to form into a ball of dough .Let dough rest for a few minutes, Then divide dough in half. Flatten slightly on a floured surface and then roll out onto a pie crust , little bigger then your pie dish...roll pie dough onto rolling pin ( half of it) then place pie crust into pie plate. and prick with fork some add filling after pricking with fork or bake at 450 degrees for 12 -15 minutes. If making a two crust pie, after put filling in the pie crust , roll out other half and place on top of filling and bake as recipe directs for the pie.
